2020年7月, the University established a strong partnership with National Jewish Health, a not-for-profit academic health center 和 the #1 ranked respiratory hospital in the U.S. 经过深入的审查过程, we selected NJH to serve as our strategic partner as we developed, 精细化和交付监控, 测试, 隔离, quarantined 和 contact tracing protocols for the DU campus for the academic year 2020-21. NJH, 成立于120年前, is the only facility in the world dedicated exclusively to groundbreaking medical research 和 the treatment of children 和 adults with respiratory, 心脏, 免疫及相关疾病. 

The expertise that NJH brings to the DU partnership is broad 和 well-aligned to our needs. Its leaders have established new acute respiratory clinics 和 respiratory recovery clinics for COVID‐19 patients 和 have launched new lines of investigation to underst和 the mechanisms of the disease 和 the frequency of 和 risk factors for transmission. NJH’s world‐renowned Occupational Pulmonary Medicine Program addresses exposure-related diseases; its Respiratory Infectious Disease Program specializes in the diagnosis 和 treatment of pulmonary pathogens; 和 its Advanced Diagnostic Laboratory established an approach to assist with “back to work” 项目 for organizations across Colorado 和 the country. 过去一年, the DU/NJH team has built strong relationships around state-of-the-art 测试 methodologies 和 other p和emic-related research opportunities, 和 it has established joint 项目 和 pathways for student internships.

An executive team comprised of DU 和 NJH personnel meets regularly to tackle emergent issues 和 plan for robust engagement. This executive team helps allocate tasks 和 time to smaller collaborative groups to work on specific protocols (e.g. 隔离)和任务(e.g., 测试), 和 it determines how the full team will engage in weekly problem- 和 opportunity-focused meetings. NJH ran our 测试 program via nasal swab RT-PCR from July 30, 2020, through the end of 2020.
